Through WBCS, candidates are appointed to various posts such as Deputy Collector, DSP, Commercial Tax Officer, Labour Officer, Block Development Officer, and other Group A, B, C, and D services.

Summary

The West Bengal Civil Service (WBCS) Examination is conducted by the West Bengal Public Service Commission (WBPSC) for recruitment to various prestigious administrative posts under the Government of West Bengal. The examination is held annually to select eligible candidates for Group A, Group B, Group C, and Group D services, including posts such as West Bengal Civil Service (Executive), Assistant Commissioner, Block Development Officer, Inspector of Police, and other allied services.

Selection Procedure

The WBCS selection process consists of three stages:

  1. Preliminary Examination (Objective Type)

    • Screening test

    • Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)

    • General Studies based

  2. Main Examination (Written)

    • Descriptive type papers

    • Includes compulsory and optional subjects

    • Tests analytical ability and subject knowledge

  3. Personality Test / Interview

    • Conducted for Group A & B posts

    • Evaluates personality, leadership, and decision-making ability

Candidates must fulfill the following eligibility conditions to apply for the West Bengal Civil Service (WBCS) Examination conducted by WBPSC.

  • The candidate must be a citizen of India.


๐Ÿ“Œ 2. Educational Qualification

  • The candidate must possess a Bachelorโ€™s Degree from a recognized University.

  • Final-year students can apply, but must produce proof of qualification at the time of document verification.

  • For some technical posts, specific qualifications may be required.
